Grilling and Barbecueing

Do you enjoy barbecue and grilling? Live for grilling on the weekend? Do you have a secret sauce that you baste your meat in before you grill? If asked, could you recite off the top of your head, you’re best grilling recipes? Does everyone try to guess your ingredients, or ask about recipes for grilling? When you are the visitor, do your hosts ask you to take over the grill, or ask you for grilling tips? Why not get paid for doing what you love! I bet word of mouth would land you a couple of jobs and get you started.

K. was a corporate head-hunter, and a good friend. On weekends, he would trade his business suit for an apron. He claimed he had an old secret family recipe for barbecue ribs. He always bragged he grilled the best ribs in the world! From time to time K. would sell his barbecue ribs. He would go to the local butcher shop and buy all the ribs they had. He would then marinate the ribs in his secret barbecue sauce. K. would pick a prime spot, set up in the morning and cook them on his grill. The smells that would come from that grill! Every time K grilled, he had a different spot around town where he would set up. He would grill till the ribs were gone. K.’s ribs were a success. He eventually gave up his head-hunter job, and began grilling full time.

My cousin for his wedding party had a friend cater the meat. His friend had a huge smoker, and roasted a hog. The hog was delicious. The guy commented to me that this was something he did part-time on the side. As we chatted, he explained to me how he set everything up and slow roasted the meat. He was happy to talk about the whole process of roasting a hog. As a wedding present to my cousin, he didn’t charge him anything, and even donated the hog.
Roasting hog was a weekend hobby for him. Did he have business cards? Nope. (I asked.) Was he pulling a large trailer filled with BBQ tools behind his truck? No. He wasn't into grilling big time or commercially. He was enjoying the party, and having fun.…

And when needed, (if he wanted to), he could make a few bucks doing what he loved, and was good at.

Also did you notice what K. did? He started out slowly. Working weekends, he built his business up to the point where he could quit his day job. He's now doing something he loves, and making lots of money doing it.
