Sell Home Cooked Meals

Are you a amateur cook who has a dream of opening up your own restaurant?  Its now possible to do it from your own home.

There is a Dutch site called Tweetjemee that helps people sell home-cooked meals and desserts to others who live nearby. After signing up with Tweetjemee, the neighbourhood amateur chef uploads pictures and descriptions of the meals they're offering for sale. They list when the food will available, their preferred pick-up times and the item's price. Customers select a meal in their neighbourhood, make payment to Tweetjemee and pick up the food at the agreed time. Tweetjemee takes a 30% cut with 10% of that being donated to The Hunger Project, a global non-profit organization committed to ending world hunger.

The idea of selling a home-cooked meal is catching on is other countries too.
In France, Super Marmite, is a French network that allows cooks with too much food to sell their extra servings.

The United States has a network for home-cooked meals also.  BookofCooks is a marketplace for neighborhood chiefs. You can order a meal in your hometown, or if you're traveling, try some local cuisine along the way, or at your destination.

As a traveler, its a chance to taste local cuisine, prepared by local hands.
The website says that you can find a cook
who can make what you want,
the way you want
all when you want it!

At the local level, this is a perfect alternative to a professionally prepared  restaurant meal,
or something different for a busy professional who doesn't want a boxed up lunch.
You go to the website, type in the city, and the meal desired.
Then they match you up with a cook.

I think everyone will agree, a home cooked meal is different than a restaurant meal.
Both may describe the same menu item,
but a home cooked meal may add the local flavor a professional meal can't match.

As a cook its a chance to showcase your skills,
build a customer base,
and, of course, making some money on the side.
You'll learn of the problems and challenges involved in preparing a meal,
which may be different than fixing a meal for your family.

If you enjoy cooking, a part-time job doing something you love!
