First of all let me say, never stop learning. Don't be afraid to go back to school. You're never to old. consider this:
verdi composed "Ave Maria" at age 85.
Harlin Sanders started Kentucky Fried Chicken at 65, and he became a millionare.
Michelangelo carved the Pieta at age 89.
John Kelley finished his 60th Boston Marathon at age 83.
Consider your options too:
How about continuing education?
You can learn a lot in a weekend class.
Consider volunteering.
Before we married, my wife was a nurse for a non-profit. She also wrote the grants for the organization. One day she suggested starting a business going into nursing homes and local non-profits, and write grants for them. you would be paid based on the grant amount received.
I loved the idea, but I said, I don't have any experience writing grants. She agreed to be my mentor. Working 18 hour days, I knew it would be impossible to attend classes.
What did I do? I took my grant classes online. It allowed me to study when I had free time. I got up 1/2 hour early and studied. I shut the tv off! I took material to work with me, and studied on breaks.
Don't ever think you don't have the time. Its possible to find time every day.
After completing the classes, I still didn't have any experience. How do you get experience? I volunteered! I went to volunteer.org, and typed grant writer in the search box. Over 5 pages poped up. I found a good match, and applied.
All the work was done over the internet, and phone. Like my classes, I could work in my spare time. They received a grant, and I received training and experience.
You can do it too.
